Retirement pension

Retirement pensions were created to stabilize the social situation in the forces.

They apply to the professions: soldiers, police officers, firefighters, members of the mountain rescue service, but include

employees of the National Security Office or the Slovak Information Service.

Retirement pensions are determined by length of service as well as the amount of salary before entitlement to

retirement pension.

Retirement pensions are not handled by the Social Insurance Institution.

Conditions for obtaining a retirement pension

A member of the Forces shall be entitled to a retirement pension if his service has ended

service and if the period of service is at least 25 years.

Minimum pension

The minimum pension is intended to ensure that citizens who have contributed to the social

insurance, they would receive a pension that would prevent them from falling into financial hardship and they would not be

those in material need. There is no need to apply for an increase to the minimum pension.

The Social Insurance Institution will assess your entitlement and automatically adjust your pension to meet the minimum

boundary.

A citizen who has reached the retirement age is entitled to an increase in his pension to the minimum level

age and receives:

  • an old-age pension (even if it was previously granted as an early retirement pension),
  • invalidity pension

Conditions for obtaining the minimum pension

To qualify for the minimum pension, you must meet the following conditions:

  • At least 30 years of paid pension insurance
  • The amount of pension income is lower than the minimum pension.
  • You have applied for all available pensions to which you are entitled (e.g. widow’s pension).

Thirteenth pension

You will get a 13th pension if you receive a retirement pension and an early retirement pension,

invalidity, widow’s, orphan’s and social pensions

The 13th pension is paid by the Social Savings Bank and does not need to be claimed.

The amount depends on the amount of pensions paid, the equalisation allowance and

top-up allowance (Czech Republic).

The calculator for calculating the amount of the thirteenth pension is on the website of the Social Insurance Institution.
