Funeral allowance
If a family member dies, you are entitled to this social benefit to help with the costs of the funeral.

When am I entitled to the funeral allowance?
Any natural person of full age can receive the allowance. Aby ste na neho získali právo, musíte splniť tieto podmienky:
- Arrange a funeral,
- Have permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia,
- The deceased had permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia and was buried in Slovakia.
Attention!
You can apply for the allowance up to one year after the deceased’s death.

How do I apply for a funeral allowance?

Print out and complete the Application for Funeral Allowance (or take a copy to your local Social Security Office).
The application must include information about the deceased (name, surname, permanent residence, etc.) and a certificate from the funeral service.

Apply to the Employment and Social Affairs Office in your place of residence. If there is anything you can’t figure out when you fill in the application form, the staff will be happy to help you.

Wait for a statement from the authority. This can happen immediately, or can take up to 60 days for more complex cases.

The funeral allowance will be paid into your bank account or to the address you have given in your application.
