Retirement pension

Retirement pensions were created to stabilize the social situation in the forces.They concern the professions: soldiers, police officers, firefighters, members of the mountain rescue service, but include They also include employees of the National Security Office and the Slovak Information Service. Retirement pensions are determined by length of service as well as the amount of salary before entitlement to retirement pension. A member of the armed forces is entitled to a retirement pension if his service has ended service and if the service lasted at least 25 years.Retirement pensions are not administered by the Social Insurance Institution.

Minimum pension

The minimum pension is intended to ensure that citizens who have contributed to the social receive a pension that prevents them from falling into financial hardship and would not those in material need. There is no need to apply for an increase to the minimum pension.

The social insurance company automatically adjusts your pension to meet the minimum threshold.The recipient is entitled to have his pension increased to the minimum level:

• an old-age pension (even if it was previously granted as an early retirement pension),
• disability pension, after reaching retirement age.

Conditions for obtaining the minimum pension

To qualify for the minimum pension, you must meet the following conditions:

• A minimum of 30 years of pensionable service for minimum pension purposes,
• The amount of pension income is lower than the minimum pension,
• You have applied for all available pensions to which you are entitled (e.g. widow’s pension).

The period of pension insurance for the purposes of the minimum pension is:

• the period of pension insurance acquired:
• before 1 January 1993 (all days of pension insurance are counted),
• abroad (the whole period is counted if it is certified by the relevant institution),
• in the calendar year in which the conditions for entitlement to the pension were met,
• in the calendar year for which the personal salary point was determined at a value of at least 0,241
• the period added to the period of pension insurance to determine the amount of the invalidity pension.

  Recipients of a pension increased to the amount of the minimum pension are obliged to prove, in particular, the amount of pensions paid from abroad by means of written notifications.

Parental pension

The right to a parental pension is vested in the pension recipient, namely:

• old-age pension,
• disability pension after retirement age,
• retirement pension payable after retirement age; and
• invalidity pension paid after retirement age

which is

• by the child’s parent or adoptive parent, and that child has not declared by 31 August of the calendar year preceding the calendar year in question that entitlement to a parental pension has not arisen,
• by a natural person who has brought up a child entrusted to the care of substitute parents on the basis of a decision of a competent authority and has declared that child to be entitled to a parental pension by 31 August of the calendar year preceding the calendar year in question.

There is no need to apply for a parental pension.
